How To Make Matcha Tea
What is Matcha?
- Matcha is a form of green tea that is shade grown, handpicked and stone ground into a powdered form.
What are the Benefits?
- Matcha is packed with antioxidants, caffeine and theanine (a calming amino acid). It has all the health benefits of standard green tea but in a more concentrated form.
How to Make Matcha Tea
- Add matcha powder to Chawan (ceramic bowl)
- For Usucha (thin tea)
- Use about 1 tsp or 1.5 heaping scoops with the Chashaku (bamboo scoop)
- For Koicha (thick tea)
- Use about 2-3 tsp or around 3 heaping scoops with the Chashaku (bamboo scoop)
- Add water just before boil about 180°F
- For Usucha (thin tea)
- Add about 2-3 oz of water
- For Koicha (thick tea)
- Add about 1-2 oz of water
- Whisk back and forth in a W motion with Chasen (bamboo whisk) until froth forms and there are no large bubbles remaining
- Serve and Enjoy
